What is Caring Connections?

Caring Connections works to improve the health of women and children in Cedar, Dixon, Thurston and Wayne Counties.

Caring Connections is coordinated by Northeast Nebraska Public Health Department and is a collaborative of people and organizations from the area who desire to work together to promote positive changes for families.

  • Studying the factors that cause harm to children and families
  • Identifying the local health disparities for women and children
  • Building on the strengths of the community
  • Working together to reduce fetal, infant and child deaths

  • Provides grief support to parents and families
  • Offers referrals to resources
  • Gives families a voice to improve services and resources
  • Prevents future fetal, infant and child deaths

  • Resource Directory of local, regional, state and national health care resources to help families
  • Fetal Infant Mortality Review process established to help identify and resolve weaknesses that may lead to poor health outcomes and mortality
  • Trainings for Professionals and Classes for Parents to improve health outcomes for women and children

  • Join the Caring Connections Coalition and meet regularly to discuss current topics important to maternal and child health
  • Refer a parent  who may want to participate to the Caring Connections Nurse at NNPHD
